Marilyn, Ohio -  Some books about Nostradamus speak of a time of troubles.  Does Nostradamus say when this is supposed to happen? 

 

Reply -  If we consider Nostradamus uses the symbol of Saturn as indicative of darkness and troubled times, there is one place where this may be found.  Nostradamus states in the Preface, "Now, by means of the supreme power of the eternal God, we are led by the Moon.  Before she has completed her entire circuit, the Sun will come and then Saturn.  For according to the signs in the heavens, the reign of Saturn will return; so that, all told, the world is drawing near its anaragonic revolution. From this moment, I can write that before 177 years, 3 months and 11 days have passed, the world between this and that preaffixed time, before and after, by pestilence, long famine, wars, and, most of all, by inundations, will be so diminished, with so few remaining, that no one will be found willing to work the fields, which will remain free for as long a period as they had been tilled."

  

Saturn returns during the Cycle of the Sun (1888 to 2242). The timeline of the prophecies extends to the year 2242.  If Saturn’s dark times comes 177 years before that, then anytime before the year 2065 would be the beginning of Saturn’s reign.  If the earth changes begin in December of the year 2012 (as many predict), then it won't be until February of 2190 that our Earth and the societies of its people will become stablilized.

 

Cat25 - This isn't just a book, it's become an obsession - can't stop thinking about it.  Well written and intriguing.

 

Jerry, Illinois - Great Book, I'm still working on it.  One thing that struck me was that the Gods of Hannibal, meaning Islam, would cause terrorism to be reborn, not that Bin Ladin himself would strike Rome.  Perhaps Nostradamus means an Islamic extremist group and maybe 100 years from now this group will strike Rome.

 

Reply - Good point.  The two Hannibal quatrains are listed below.  In the book I mentioned "d'Annibal" was a very good anagram for "Bin Ladin" with only one letter changed.  I wrote, "Like Hannibal who crossed the Alps to sack Rome, Bin Ladin and his al Qaeda organization may be planning a terrorist attack in the near future on the center of Christianity." Hannibal Barca (247-183 BC) lived in a pre-Islam era.  He was a Carthaginian from the area of northern Africa, now composed of Islamic nations except for Israel.  He went through Spain over the Pyrenees and over the Alps (with his elephants) to battle the Romans.  Nostradamus has many quatrains about the Pyrenees.  Perhaps Nostradamus meant the Gods of Bin Ladin (Islam) will strike Rome.  Hopefully it is 100 years in the future and not immediately.
